Kouga Municipality invites South African unemployed youth and graduates to apply for the Finance and Electro-Mechanical Internship Programmes 2026.

Kouga Local Municipality is inviting suitably qualified applicants to apply for internship opportunities in the Finance Department and Electro-Mechanical Department.

Preference will be given to applicants who permanently reside within the Kouga Local Municipality area of jurisdiction.

Applicants must have a relevant NQF Level 6 or NQF Level 7 qualification in a finance-related field.

Accounting, Financial Management, Public Finance, Economics, Risk Management and Auditing.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure and apply good time management skills.

Candidates must have good communication skills, computer skills, especially Excel and other programmes, and strong attention to detail.

Finance interns will be trained and exposed to the following areas:

Public sector procurement, Municipal Finance Management Act, MFMA 56 of 2003, and relevant legislation.

Best practice and Treasury Regulations.

Negotiation, planning and organising skills.

Advanced report writing and analytical skills.

Municipal Finance Management Programme, also known as MFMP.

Successful interns will sign an internship agreement in addition to an employment contract.

The agreement is meant to ensure commitment to the programme, including full participation in education and workplace assignments, as well as compliance with municipal policies and procedures.
