About StarterJobs.co.za

Helping South Africans start their careers since 2026

Our Mission

StarterJobs.co.za exists to bridge the gap between South African job seekers and entry-level opportunities. We believe everyone deserves a fair chance to start their career, regardless of their background or experience level.

Youth unemployment in South Africa is one of the highest in the world. We're here to change that by making it easier for young people to find internships, learnerships, graduate programmes, and entry-level positions across the country.

Our Story

StarterJobs was born out of a deeply personal frustration. In a country where youth unemployment hovers above 60%, millions of young South Africans spend months — sometimes years — searching for their first real opportunity. The founders of StarterJobs experienced this struggle firsthand, watching talented friends and family members send out hundreds of applications with little to show for it. The problem was not a lack of ambition or ability. It was a lack of access. Entry-level opportunities were scattered across dozens of websites, government portals, and social media pages, making the search exhausting and overwhelming for anyone without insider knowledge or connections.

That realisation sparked the idea for StarterJobs.co.za: a single, focused platform that brings together internships, learnerships, graduate programmes, and entry-level jobs from across South Africa into one easy-to-use destination. We launched with a simple mission — to make it easier for young people to find legitimate opportunities and take the first step in their careers. Every listing on our platform is curated to ensure relevance and legitimacy, because we believe job seekers deserve better than wading through expired posts and suspicious offers.

What sets StarterJobs apart is our commitment to the South African context. We understand the unique challenges facing matriculants, TVET graduates, and university students in this country. That is why we offer free tools like our CV builder and ATS checker, career guides tailored to local industries, and resources written specifically for the South African job market. We do not charge job seekers a cent, because we firmly believe that access to opportunity should never depend on the size of your wallet.

Looking ahead, our vision is to become the most trusted career launchpad for young South Africans. We are continuously expanding our network of employer partners, improving our tools with the latest technology, and building a community where job seekers can support one another. Every feature we develop and every listing we publish is guided by one question: does this genuinely help someone start their career? If the answer is yes, we build it. The journey is far from over, but with every young person who lands their first opportunity through our platform, we know we are moving in the right direction.

Trust & How We Work

StarterJobs.co.za is built for job seekers first. We are transparent about what we are — and what we are not.

  • We are an aggregator and careers platform. We collect and organise entry-level opportunities from public sources (employer websites, reputable job boards, and similar listings) so you can search in one place.
  • We are not the employer. Hiring decisions are always made by the company or organisation advertising the role. When you apply, you follow their process — online portal, email, post, or hand delivery — as stated in each listing.
  • We never charge you to apply. Searching, browsing, and using our basic tools is free. Legitimate employers do not charge application fees; if anyone asks for money to “secure” a job, it is a red flag.
  • We aim to link you to the real application channel. Where we can, listings point to the employer’s careers page or official apply link so you are not stuck on an unnecessary middle step. Always double-check closing dates and requirements on the employer’s side before you submit.

Stay Safe from Job Scams

Unfortunately, job scams are common in South Africa. Here's how to protect yourself:

  • Never pay money to apply for a job or to "secure" a position
  • Be wary of jobs that promise unrealistic salaries
  • Verify the company exists and the job is real
  • Don't share sensitive personal information until you've verified the employer
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, it probably is
