Western Cape Mobility Department invites South African youth to apply for the Student Cadet Traffic Officer Bursary Programme 2026.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 05 May 2026Bursary Location: Western Cape, South Africa (Various Traffic Centres)

The Western Cape Mobility Department is offering a 12-month full-time study bursary for candidates who want to become Traffic Officers.

Successful applicants will complete a:

Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement

Training College: Gene Louw Traffic College (Brackenfell)

After training, candidates may be placed at traffic centres in:

To qualify for this bursary, applicants must:

Have a valid Code B (manual) driver’s licence

Have no visible tattoos or body piercings (except allowed ear piercings for females)

Shortlisted candidates will be required to:

Undergo: Medical assessments Psychological testing Drug testing Physical fitness tests Driving assessment Written assessment Interview process

Promote road safety and crime prevention

Carry out administrative functions

Work shifts (including 24/7 operations when required)

Good communication skills (at least two official languages)

Ability to work independently and in a team

This is a training bursary, not permanent employment

A monthly stipend of R5 000 will be paid

No accommodation or meals are included

Future employment is not guaranteed
