Shoprite Group invites South African students to apply for the Shoprite Bursary Programme 2026.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 31 May 2026

The Shoprite Group Bursary Programme is designed to support students pursuing careers in high-demand fields within the retail and supply chain sectors.

Founded in 1979, Shoprite has grown into Africa’s largest retailer, operating thousands of stores across multiple countries. Through this bursary, the company invests in developing future professionals who will contribute to its continued growth.

Bursaries will be awarded in the following study areas:

Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) (10 bursaries)

Biological & Agricultural Sciences (10 bursaries)

Retail Business Management (60 bursaries)

Supply Chain & Logistics (10 bursaries)

πŸ’° Value: Between R30 000 and R60 000, depending on the course and institution

After completing your studies, bursary recipients will be required to work for Shoprite Group.

1 year of work for each year of funding received

Must be a South African citizen

Must be 27 years old or younger

Must be studying at a recognised tertiary institution

Studying BCom Accounting / BAcc (CA stream)

Entering 2nd–4th year or PGDA/CTA

65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Tax

Studying Agriculture-related qualifications

Studying Diploma in Retail Business Management

Studying Logistics / Supply Chain / Operational Research

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 30 days after the closing date

Internal candidates may be given preference

Matric certificate (certified copy)

Full tertiary academic record, including most recent results (on institutions letterhead)

Key Responsibilities

You must represent the bursary programme positively in your professional conduct and fulfill any work-back obligations specified in your bursary contract after graduating. As a bursary recipient, your responsibilities will include maintaining the minimum academic performance standards and attending all lectures and tutorials as required.

Commitment to completing your qualification within the prescribed time and willingness to fulfill any work-back obligations. South African citizenship and acceptance or current enrolment at a recognised South African tertiary institution.
