The Shoprite Group is inviting eligible South African students to apply for the Shoprite Bursary Programme 2026. This bursary opportunity is aimed at supporting talented students in scarce and high-impact fields while creating a strong pipeline of future professionals for Africa’s largest food retailer.

Shoprite is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to students studying in selected priority fields.
Bursaries will be awarded in the following fields:
Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) – 10 bursaries
Biological and Agricultural Sciences – 10 bursaries
Retail Business Management – 60 bursaries
Supply Chain & Logistics – 10 bursaries
💰 Bursary value: Between R30 000 and R60 000, depending on the field of study and institution.
All bursary recipients are required to work for Shoprite after graduation.
Work-back period: 1 year of employment for every year of funding received.
Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA): Join the Shoprite Finance team and potentially enter the Accounting Articles Programme with exposure across the Group.
Biological & Agricultural Sciences: Placement within the Fresh Foods / Freshmark division.
Retail Business Management: Build a long-term career in retail management at Africa’s largest retailer.
Supply Chain & Logistics: Develop as a future logistics and supply chain specialist within the Shoprite Group.
Applicants must meet all the minimum requirements below.
Studying towards BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream)
Entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th year, or PGDA / CTA
Minimum 65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation
Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
Studying Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, or Agriculture with Crop/Plant Production focus
Studying towards a Diploma in Retail Business Management
Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year (Advanced Diploma)
Studying BCom Logistics / Supply Chain Management / BSc Operational Research or Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain or Logistics Management

Key Responsibilities
You must represent the bursary programme positively in your professional conduct and fulfill any work-back obligations specified in your bursary contract after graduating.
