Role Overview
Macadamias South Africa NPC (known as SAMAC) is composed of macadamia nut growers, nurseries, handlers and industry service providers. SAMAC was formed by a group of growers who wished to pool their resources in order to address their common problems and issues. The organisations mission is to be leaders in the development of a profitable and sustainable industry in the common interests of members through technical and marketing innovation.
Macadamias South Africa (SAMAC) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in Agriculture, with a specific focus on crop production and horticulture, which includes but is not limited to the following fields: Agronomy, Crop Protection, Crop Science, Engineering, Entomology, Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Plant Science and Soil Science.
Through the bursary programme, SAMAC aims to financially assist deserving students aspiring to build careers within the Macadamia industry in South Africa.
Postgraduate studies should be in a field that will benefit the macadamia industry, such as but not limited to: Entomology, Microbiology, Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Crop Science, Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Soil Science and Crop Protection.
The bursary will provide funding towards the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed textbooks and student accommodation.

Key Responsibilities
You must represent the bursary programme positively in your professional conduct and fulfill any work-back obligations specified in your bursary contract after graduating. As a bursary recipient, your responsibilities will include maintaining the minimum academic performance standards and attending all lectures and tutorials as required.
