Role Overview

PwC South Africa invites Grade 12 learners, university students and students planning to complete CTA or PGDA to apply for the PwC Chartered Accountant Programme Bursary for the 2027 academic year.

The PwC CA Programme Bursary supports academically strong South African students who are committed to qualifying as Chartered Accountants.

Applications opened on 1 July 2026 and will close on 31 August 2026. The programme accepts applications from qualifying Grade 12 learners, undergraduate accounting students and students preparing to study towards CTA or PGDA.

PwC states that it supports more than 500 aspiring Chartered Accountants annually through bursary opportunities offering different levels of financial assistance. Successful bursary recipients may also continue their professional development by completing their training and working towards a professional qualification at PwC after graduating. .

Grade 12 learners intending to study towards Chartered Accountancy.

Undergraduate students currently studying towards an eligible CA qualification.

Students planning to complete CTA or PGDA.

South African citizens with valid identity documents.

Students with strong academic results.

Applicants who demonstrate the personal qualities required by PwC.

Applicants must study or intend to study full-time at a SAICA-accredited institution. .

Be committed to studying towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification.

Have at least a B symbol for Mathematics.

Have at least a B symbol for English as a first or second language.

Have an overall academic average of at least 75%.

Mathematical Literacy is not accepted for this bursary. Applicants must have Pure Mathematics. .

First- and second-year undergraduate applicants must:

Be studying towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification.

Be registered full-time at a SAICA-accredited institution.

Be passing all registered courses.

Maintain an overall academic average of at least 70%.

Students should submit their latest official university transcript showing all completed subjects and results. .

Third- and fourth-year undergraduate applicants must:

Be studying towards a CA qualification.

Be studying full-time at a SAICA-accredited institution.

Maintain an overall average of at least 65%.

Qualify for admission to Honours according to their university’s requirements.

PwC does not provide bursaries to students who intend to complete a bridging course to gain entry into a SAICA-accredited qualification. .

Students planning to complete a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting or a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting may apply, provided that:

The programme forms part of the Chartered Accountant qualification pathway.

The institution is SAICA-accredited.

The student meets PwC’s academic requirements.

The student intends to study full-time.

The applicant meets the relevant university admission requirements.

PwC offers different bursary arrangements depending on academic achievement and financial need.

A once-off living allowance for qualifying students.

The final amount and type of support will depend on the applicant’s academic results, financial circumstances and stage of study. .

Academically outstanding students may be considered for an academic achievement award.

A payment made directly to the university toward tuition fees.

The award is linked primarily to academic performance.
