Applicants may be 2026 Matric students.
Applicants may also be on a gap year after completing Matric in 2025.
Applicants must be registered or planning to register for full-time studies in 2027.
Applicants must be studying at a DHET or CHE registered tertiary institution.
Applicants must be studying towards an NQF Level 7 or higher qualification, such as a Bachelor’s Degree or Honours qualification.
Grade 12 applicants must have a Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 65% or above.
Tertiary-level applicants must have an academic average of 65% or above for the latest full academic years, including 2025 and 2026 results so far.
This opportunity is not open to students studying towards the following qualification levels:
The bursary is also not open to students studying at:
Distance-learning institutions such as UNISA.
Among qualifying applicants, preference may be given to candidates who align with the sponsor’s transformation and employment equity objectives.
Preference may also be given to applicants who are on track to complete their qualification within the minimum required time and are not on N+1 or higher.
The bursary is renewable annually.
Renewal will depend on academic performance, student engagement and available sponsor budgets.
Applicants should note that receiving the bursary in the first year does not automatically mean funding is guaranteed for the full length of study.
Successful bursary recipients will be required to work back for every year of funding provided by Capitec.
If a bursary recipient does not complete the work-back obligation, they may be required to refund the value of the bursary benefits received, plus interest charged at the prime rate.
Applicants and bursary recipients must provide accurate and truthful information.
If an applicant or awardee is later found not to be studying full-time or to have undisclosed paid employment, their bursary contract or offer may be terminated.
They may also be required to refund all bursary benefits paid to them.
