Role Overview
The Communications Intern will support the communications and employee engagement function by assisting with planning, research, development, and delivery of internal and external communication initiatives, gaining valuable practical, hands-on experience of the inner workings of a communications function in a JSE-listed company.
The role aims to help the team ensure clear and consistent messaging while supporting campaigns, events, and communication on digital platforms across Momentum Distribution Services (MDS).
Internal Communications Support
Assist with research for, drafting, and editing communication content such as newsletters, announcements, articles, and internal communication updates.
Support the compilation and distribution of internal communication mailers and announcements.
Upload communication content to communication platforms..
Proofread communication materials to ensure accuracy and alignment with tone of voice and corporate identity guidelines.
Assist in creating engaging content for communication campaigns, events, and employee engagement initiatives.
Support the development of communication materials such as presentations, posters, and email communications.
Assist with sourcing multimedia content for campaigns.
Assist in coordinating communication and engagement events, including logistics and communication collateral.
Support internal campaigns by assisting with promotional material distribution and campaign coordination.
Provide on-site support during internal events or activations.
Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather communication content and updates.
Support collaboration with Human Capital, marketing, business units, and Momentum product houses on communication initiatives.
Assist with managing communication inboxes and responding to queries where applicable.
Reporting & Administration
Track engagement metrics on communication platforms and assist with reporting.
Maintain communication records, documents, and content libraries.
Provide general administrative support to the communications team.
Bachelor’s Degree in: Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of digital communication platforms and quickly learn and master specific platforms used.
Strong writing and editing skills
