The KwaZulu-Natal Government invites KwaZulu-Natal residents to apply for Bursary Opportunities for the 2026 academic year, offered across key provincial departments.Bursary Application Period: 31 December 2025 – 15 February 2026Study Location: Public institutions of higher learning (preference for KZN-based institutions)

These bursaries are aimed at supporting youth aged 18–35 who wish to pursue scarce and critical skills needed by the Province. Youth and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

In possession of Grade 12 / Matric

Have an acceptance or provisional acceptance letter from a public institution

The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, meals/stipend, and prescribed textbooks

Bursars must enter into a service contract with the relevant Provincial Department

Preference is given to students studying at KZN institutions

Funding is limited; not all applicants will be successful

Correspondence will be limited to successful applicants only

If not contacted within 4 months after closing date, consider your application unsuccessful

Late applications will not be accepted.

Key Responsibilities

You must represent the bursary programme positively in your professional conduct and fulfill any work-back obligations specified in your bursary contract after graduating. As a bursary recipient, your responsibilities will include maintaining the minimum academic performance standards and attending all lectures and tutorials as required.
