Role Overview

Competition Commission is a statutory body responsible for promoting and maintaining fair competition in South Africa’s economy. It investigates anti-competitive conduct such as price-fixing and abuse of dominance, and evaluates mergers to ensure they do not harm competition, consumers, or economic efficiency.

The Competition Commission is on a search for high-achieving learners and graduates with no prior work experience to join our 2026 Internship Programme. This opportunity offers practical experience in competition law, economics, and other fields, while supporting your academic requirements.

Mainly, students who are in their final year of study or have completed their qualification through a University and/or Universities of Technology. The programme is further applicable to students who require practical experience to successfully complete their qualifications as required by their curriculum.

A stipend over the period of six months.

We are looking for dynamic, hardworking and committed individuals who meet the following requirements:

Must be a South African Citizen.

No prior working experience in the same field.

Must be in their final year of study or have completed their qualification, a Degree or Diploma Certificate in:

Final year students are required to submit a letter of registration.

Evidence of proactive engagement in initiatives or service beyond academic coursework, demonstrating commitment to public interest and societal impact.

A great team player with excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills.

Demonstrated analytical, research and investigative abilities.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, your responsibilities will typically include assisting senior team members with daily tasks and project deliverables, conducting research and preparing reports as directed by your supervisor, and attending team meetings to contribute ideas. In this internship, you will be expected to learn and apply company processes, systems, and tools, complete assigned projects within specified deadlines, and maintain accurate records of your work and learning progress.
