Role Overview

African Oxygen Limited, known as “Afrox” was founded in 1927 and is the leader in industrial gases and welding products in sub-Saharan Africa. The company operates in 10 African countries (including South Africa), as well as manages the operations of 5 other countries for The Linde Group, who are the parent company of Afrox.

The company is one of the top providers to mining, heavy industry, construction, manufacturing and automotive sectors. They manufacture gases and other products on 41 sites across southern Africa, including 16 on-sites and 31 units.

The JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange) listed company provides services within the food processing, agriculture, healthcare and hospitality markets. Afrox currently has over 3000 staff members and was listed on the JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange) in 1963.

Afrox is looking to assist students studying within the engineering faculty. The bursary applicant must have good academic results and limited financial resources. The bursary recipient must have completed (and excelled) in their first year of study in one of the following fields:

The bursary will cover: tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation in residence and food. The bursary is valid for one year only and renewal is subject to academic results and vacation work (during June/July and December/January holidays).
