Sundays River Valley Municipality invites suitably qualified South African graduates to apply for the Finance Internship Programme 2026.

Internship Location: Sundays River Valley Municipality, Nqweba, Eastern Cape, South Africa

Sundays River Valley Municipality, a Grade 2 Municipality with head offices situated in Nqweba, invites applications from suitably qualified persons, preferably from designated groups, for appointment to the Finance Internship Programme.

Preference will be given to applicants permanently residing within the Sundays River Valley Municipality jurisdiction. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Position: Finance Internship Programme

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Relevant NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification in a finance-related field with majors in Accounting, Financial Management, Public Finance, Economics, Risk Management and/or Auditing.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.

The following additional competencies will serve as an advantage:

Ability to function independently and within a team.

Ability to function effectively under pressure and apply time management principles.

Computer skills, including Excel and other programmes.

Must be assertive and have attention to detail.

Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Sundays River Valley Municipality, namely Afrikaans, English and Xhosa.

The MFMA Internship Programme is a structured professional training and work experience programme aimed at providing high-quality training and practical exposure in all aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office.

The programme is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003 and the underlying reforms.

The programme follows a logical training sequence that builds on the skills and competencies acquired at tertiary level.

Where appropriate, the programme may end with credits or a qualification in Municipal Finance Management in line with the Municipal Minimum Competency Regulations.

All shortlisted candidates will be required to produce their original academic qualifications at the interview.

Should it be necessary to determine the equivalence of qualifications and/or verify qualifications, this must be established through the relevant verification authority, and the responsibility will rest with the applicant.

Council reserves the right to verify or confirm any qualifications with relevant verification authorities. By applying, candidates give permission for such verification.

False and/or fraudulent information provided will automatically disqualify the applicant.

Certified copy of Matric and post-matric qualifications.

Certified copy of proof of residence confirmed by your Ward Councillor.

Any other relevant supporting documents.
