Southern Sphere Platinum invites South African students to apply for the Bursary Programme 2026.

Southern Sphere Platinum is a mining exploration and development company focusing on platinum group metals (PGMs) and chrome in the Steelpoort region. The company is committed to uplifting local communities by investing in education and skills development, especially for students pursuing careers in the mining and related industries.

The bursary is available for students studying in the following fields:

Environmental Science / Environmental Management / Ecology / Conservation Biology

Information Technology / Computer Science

The bursary covers expenses up to R200 000 per student, including:

Accommodation (residence or approved housing)

Note: The bursary does not cover outstanding fees from previous years.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Must be a South African citizen

Must reside in Sekhukhune District (Limpopo)

Must be studying in one of the listed fields

Must be entering 2nd year of study in 2026

Must have a minimum average of 60% in 1st year

Must be studying at one of these universities: University of Limpopo North-West University University of the Witwatersrand University of Johannesburg University of Pretoria

Must not be receiving another bursary

Preference given to students with financial need

Submit the following documents:

Full academic record (1st year)

Proof of registration/acceptance

Proof of residence in Sekhukhune District

Key Responsibilities

As a bursary recipient, your responsibilities will include maintaining the minimum academic performance standards and attending all lectures and tutorials as required.
