The Necsa Group, through the Necsa Learning Academy, is inviting applications for the Graduate in Training Programme 2026.

This is a 24-month Graduate Researcher Programme aimed at attracting and developing bright, ambitious graduates in science and engineering.

The programme is suitable for graduates who want to build meaningful careers within nuclear sciences, applied radiation, applied chemistry and related technology sectors.

The Graduate in Training Programme offers emerging scientists and engineers a platform to gain practical experience, professional growth and exposure to multidisciplinary environments across the Necsa Group.

Participants will receive guided mentorship and work on real technological challenges.

The programme is designed to help graduates develop technical, leadership and professional competencies while contributing to projects within the nuclear and related technology sectors.

Successful graduates will gain exposure to structured assignments related to project execution.

They will contribute to active and high-impact projects from the beginning of the programme.

Graduates will receive continuous mentorship, feedback and career support from experienced technical experts.

The programme also includes on-the-job training, technical workshops and specialist courses.

Participants will develop important professional skills such as communication, leadership and problem-solving.

Graduates will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the conceptualisation, design, development and execution of research and development projects.

They will assist with the setup, testing and optimisation of scientific apparatus and facilities.

Graduates will also perform scientific analyses, collect and interpret data, prepare technical reports and develop improvement proposals.

They will support continuous improvement and innovation across multidisciplinary operational environments.

Other duties include ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

Graduates will maintain accurate documentation of project progress, results and training milestones.

They will also participate in mentorship and professional development sessions within the Graduate in Training Programme.

Applicants must be South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35.

Applicants must have relevant qualifications such as:

Master’s Degree in Material Sciences.

Honours Degree in Engineering or Science.

Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Engineering disciplines may include:

Applicants must have a strong academic record with excellent results in core STEM subjects.

No prior full-time work experience is required.

Previous vacation work, internships or research projects will be beneficial.

Applicants must be computer literate and familiar with relevant calculation software, simulation tools or modelling tools.
