Role Overview

This includes conducting basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs to maintain structures such as doors, windows, ceilings, roofing sheets, and wall surfaces.
Maintenance tasks also include patching, painting, and repairing structural elements as well as carrying out minor fabrication and welding repairs where necessary. The successful candidate may also be responsible for constructing and installing wooden structures, including shelving, cupboards, partitions, and storage units.
The position includes duties related to container conversions. This involves modifying shipping containers into functional units such as site offices, storage facilities, workshops, and ablution areas. Work may include installing insulation, ceilings, partitions, flooring, doors, windows, ventilation systems, and security gates.
Additional responsibilities include travelling to company facilities and client sites to perform on-site repairs and maintenance tasks. The role may also involve providing support during equipment breakdowns and urgent maintenance situations.
Environmental compliance and safety responsibilities form part of the role. The handyman must ensure the responsible disposal of waste materials, separate scrap materials for recycling, and minimise wastage during projects. Maintaining clean and safe work areas while preventing environmental hazards such as oil spills or contamination is also required.
Routine inspections of buildings and infrastructure must be conducted to identify maintenance needs or safety risks. The role also supports planned maintenance programmes and other operational duties as required.
