Applicants must have an NQF Level 7 qualification in one of the following fields:
Cost and Management Accounting.
Applicants must also have at least Auditing III or Internal Auditing III.
Successful candidates will assist with compiling and reviewing the monthly cash focus of the municipality.
They will assist with updating the asset register.
Interns will assist with compiling monthly bank reconciliations.
They will also assist with compiling monthly and quarterly financial reports required by the Division of Revenue Act and the Municipal Finance Management Act.
These reports may be submitted to Provincial Treasury, National Treasury, the Department of Local Government and Housing.
Financial Interns will assist with compiling the municipal budget and other duties within the Budget and Treasury Offices.
They will assist with reconciliations in all sections of the Financial Directorate.
Interns will also assist the division responsible for the municipality’s insurance portfolio.
They will assist in ensuring that the asset register balances with the municipality’s financial statements.
Successful candidates will assist in ensuring that new assets are marked or barcoded.
They will also assist with verifying the physical count of assets and recording the results according to council policy.
Interns may also perform other financial functions as instructed by the Chief Financial Officer or delegated official.
Applicants must have good computer skills.
Good interpersonal skills are required.
Applicants must be able to work under pressure.
