Role Overview

Nedbank is one of South Africa’s major banking groups, providing a wide range of financial services to individuals, businesses, corporates, and institutions. The bank offers solutions across retail and business banking, corporate and investment banking, wealth management, and insurance, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and responsible banking practices across Africa and selected international markets.

The YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme is a business-led collaboration with government to reduce unemployment by providing youth with an opportunity to develop new skills and gain meaningful workplace experience, which in turn will significantly improve their chances of finding long-term future employment. Nedbank YES youth will be contracted for 12 months to gain quality work experience. The programme is earmarked to start on 01 May 2026.

Between 18 and 29 years old as of 1 May 2026 (born between 2 May 1997 and 1 May 2008);

Have at least a Matric (Grade 12) qualification Or Have successfully completed a post-matric qualification at one of the following levels:

NQF Level 5 (Higher Certificate)

NQF Level 7 (Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree)

Have not participated in a YES Programme with another organisation before.

Nedbank YES youth will receive a monthly stipend guided by the YES Programme. A stipend is monetary support to help an individual pay for living, food and travel-related expenses.

The Nedbank quality work experience programme will be based at Nedbank’s various sites, branches and offices across the country, with some positions allowing for the possibility of working in terms of a hybrid or remote model. Depending on the division, role and job requirement, Nedbank YES youth may be required to work weekdays and/or according to a shift schedule, which may include weekends and public holidays. This means that YES youth will need to be able to travel to and from the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, your responsibilities will typically include assisting senior team members with daily tasks and project deliverables, conducting research and preparing reports as directed by your supervisor, and attending team meetings to contribute ideas. In this internship, you will be expected to learn and apply company processes, systems, and tools, complete assigned projects within specified deadlines, and maintain accurate records of your work and learning progress.
