Eskom invites South African unemployed graduates to apply for the Learner – Plant Maintenance Programme 2026.

The Eskom Learner Programme is a 2-year structured technical training opportunity within the Turbo Gen Services (Plant Maintenance) division.

This programme is designed to provide hands-on experience in engineering, maintenance, and power plant operations, preparing learners for careers in the energy sector.

Position: Learner – Plant Maintenance

Business Unit: Turbo Gen Services

Remuneration: Market-related stipend

To qualify, applicants must have:

S4 Qualification in one of the following: Mechatronics Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronics (C&I)

Advantage: Electrical (Power Plant) specialisation

Ability to use mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation measuring tools

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances

Basic understanding of quality systems

Knowledge of technical specifications and standards

Strong engineering and technical skills

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to use basic hand tools

Basic planning and computer skills

Strong work ethic and initiative

Participants will gain experience in:

Plant maintenance and engineering operations

Reading and interpreting technical drawings

Equipment measurement and diagnostics

Working with international engineering standards

Maintaining high-quality workmanship

Key Responsibilities

As a learner, your responsibilities will include attending all scheduled theoretical training sessions and completing coursework on time, and applying learned concepts in the workplace under mentor guidance. You will maintain a portfolio of evidence documenting your practical experience and competencies, while meeting all assessment requirements set by the relevant SETA and adhering to workplace policies.
